The Shofar
The Shofar is a musical instrument with sounds similar to a trumpet, traditionally crafted from a ram’s horn. In biblical times, it served various purposes: summoning God’s people for sacred occasions and repentance, signaling battles, and announcing royal coronations.
Biblical texts also link the Shofar to themes of final judgment, redemption, and resurrection, as its sounds invite the exiles back to Israel and herald the coming of the Lord. Isaiah 58 states, “Cry aloud, spare not; lift up your voice like a shofar, and declare unto My people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins.”
As followers of the Messiah, we have a mandate to share the way, the truth, and the life found only through Him with the Jewish people. The calling of Messiah’s Shofar is to compassionately spread this Truth through outreach and service.
