The Shofar
The Shofar is a musical instrument with sounds similar to a trumpet and is typically made of a ram’s horn. Biblically, it was used to call God’s people together for sacred times, for repentance, to herald battle signals, and to announce the coronation of a king.
The Scriptures also use Shofar imagery for the final judgment, redemption, and the resurrection. Its blasts call the exiles to Israel and proclaim the coming of the Lord.
Isaiah 58 declares, “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a shofar, and declare unto my people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins.” As followers of the Messiah, we are called to make known to the Jewish people and the nations- the way, the truth, and the life that only comes though Him.
Messiah’s Shofar exists to lovingly proclaim this Truth through outreach and acts of service.
